COOKBOOK CLUB #1 - Thursday 18th September - Mother, Wood St, Liverpool
The first of our monthly cookbook clubs kicks off at one of Liverpool’s best independents, the magical MOTHER on Liverpool’s Wood Street.
We will look at, discuss and eat a feast cooked from Diana Henry’s magical book ‘How to Eat a Peach’. This book was gifted to me not long after it was released back in 2018 and I had never heard of Diana Henry, nor cooked any of her recipes before. As soon as I held the book in my hands (it has a gorgeous fuzzy peach-like feel to the cover) and read the introduction I knew this was going to end up as one my favourite cook books of all time.
In her own words
‘ This book may have started out as a way to give practical advice, but it ended up being about place too. There is poetry in menus . They can transport you to the Breton coast, or a Saturday night in Manhattan; they are short stories’.
In Nigella Lawson’s words ‘ I couldn’t love anyone who didn’t love this book’.
+Ticket price includes full feast. Mother Espresso will be running a bar with cocktails, wine, beer and coffee.
+This event is not suitable for anyone with allergies due to the set menu nature. Sorry!
